My name Saidah (pronounced Syeeeduh), is an Arabic name that means to be happy and fortunate and for the most part, I am that.
Talking or writing about myself has gotten easier over the years, especially since I was extremely shy when I was younger. I enjoy writing as it ranges from expressing an opinion, disdain, or sharing a funny thought. I also enjoy writing book reviews.
On a personal note, I am the eldest of seven siblings, the mother of one son, and an aunt to two gorgeous nieces. I take great pride in my family’s heritage. My mother is a Blyden of the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. My father is a Henderson of Dominica. Both of my parents are also the eldest of their many siblings.
I am a proud graduate of CUNY and obtained both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in English from Queens College in Flushing, NY. My mentor and adviser was Wayne Moreland.
I’d like to share some of what I do with you here. I hope you enjoy.
