My name Saidah (pronounced Syeeeduh), is an Arabic name that means to be happy and fortunate, and for the most part, I am that.
Talking or writing about myself has gotten easier over the years, especially since I was extremely shy when I was younger. I enjoy writing as it ranges from expressing an opinion, disdain, or sharing a funny thought. I’ll also write a book review from time to time.
On a personal note, I am the eldest of seven – 4 boys, 3 girls; the mother of one son; and an aunt to three gorgeous nieces – Mimi, Yazzy, Abi and one nephew – AJ. I take great pride in my family’s heritage. My mother is a Blyden of the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. My father is a Henderson of Dominica.
I am a proud graduate of CUNY and obtained both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in English from Queens College in Flushing, NY. My mentor and adviser was Wayne Moreland.
I’m in the US Army and I enjoy running.
I’d like to share some of what I do with you here. I hope you enjoy.
